Our conversations are confidential. What you share with me will not be shared without your permission. However, there are some exceptions. For example, when someone’s safety is at imminent risk. In our first session together, we will go over confidentiality agreements and you will have an opportunity to give your written informed consent for our work together.
The Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA) is an Ontario law that sets rules for the collection, use, and disclosure of personal health information. As a Psychotherapist and Health Information Custodian, I am legally bound to abide by this act. In our first session, we will go over how your information is stored.
Code of Ethics
As a Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario, I am bound by the Professional Practice Standards set by the College. In addition, as a Pre-Clinical Fellow with the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists, I am also governed by their code of ethics.
